    here are some updates (:
at day 5, the eggs have developed with visible black markings which i suspect are the eyes and tail

total egg count left is 23, and the two abandoned eggs have been eaten by other fishes in the tank.. ):

here's a pic of the tank setup (:
*it is slightly different now with the centre piece replaced by a bunch of java fern

thanks for viewing (: any comments are welcome (:

    Re: S. Auruem spawn (:

today i recieved good news again from my s. auruems (:

2 little wrigglers spotted and a few more around the tank

harvesting process of the rest of the eggs, they are really "glued" tight to the tank man!

harvested wrigglers in a basin, you can see some are still in the form of an egg

here is how i transfered them from basin to wriggler tank

    using a metal soup spoon

here are the wrigglers in the holding tank

papa still sort of does not realise that eggs are all gone and continues to come back and guards the area..

here is a pic of the holding tank

overall from this experience i learnt that the way s. auruem eggs develop is very interesting.
    1) the eggs have got a double layer whereby even when they are wrigglers, they are still contained within an outer sac, thus you can see in the image of the basin, some are still round, meaning they are still in the outer sac

    2) they actually hatch a few at a time, since i saw some wrigglers yet the rest are still in the sac.and when i harvested the eggs, they would break from the outer sac within seconds to minutes into their wriggler form.

all in all a total of 32 wrigglers harvested instead of the 23 eggs i counted (:
    very experiential indeed (:

enjoy and comments are welcome (:
sorry for the lousy pics though.. hehehe
