I'm facing the same problem in my new 3ft setup which makes me wondering if its the water problem in Woodlands.

I dosed the following 2 days ago after seeing the problems:
    1. 450mg CaCO3
    2. 10ppm K
    3. 0.5ppm Mg
    4. 0.1ppm Fe

Don't mess with your GH...Singapore's tap water GH is fine. Just dose N,P,K and traces will do.

450mg of CaCO3 only? For my 2.5, I whacked 1,350mg on top of corals in my sump to fix my Lobelia. And that is only about 5ppm of Ca but lot of Vit D.

The problem might well come from lack of N as well.

I also read your previous post at http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...ic.php?t=11634

Since it is only two days since you started this new fertilising regime, may have to wait a week or more to see results. I think this time there should be some result after reducing K and Mg and adding Ca.

In my case, after reducing to 10ppm K (from 20ppm K, 2~3ppm Mg), my plants did better and I was surprised to see a I-thought-long-gone H.polysperma growing nicely among the other plants. I always have coral chips in my filter as a source of Mg and Ca.

Bettapassion, what were you dosing before the problem came in?
If it is really a Ca issue, those curly leaves are as good as useless and you would need to trim it off. New shoots would sprout from the side though. []

In fact after I put sand and water into the tank I was gathering some plants, I put them into the same tank with no CO2, fert, lighting etc. No curling problem. 2-3 days before I scape the tank I did put in 15 drops of Dr Mallick Micros. No curl leaves problem, no dissolving problem nor new leaves transparent problem.

I did not use base fert but use root monster and fert stick for my 3ft. Then I dose Aqua 4ml per day with 15 drops of Micros. Plants bubbling with light and CO2 and a AC fan to cool it. On 3rd day This happened, there is only 2 fish in the tank now a SAE and a singapore killi fish. I then dose CaCO3 with 10ppm of K and 0.5ppm of Mg with 4ml of Aqua and 15 drops of Micros, but the problem still there. So just last nite I tot could be PO4 since not much fish in there so I dose a small little rock about 6mm across of PO4 and now I get green spot algae and hair algae also turn up (crying out loud).......

Aiyo, jiak lat. Try and do this.

    1) Remove all your algae manually.
    2) Do a big water change to dilute that PO4!!
    3) Afterwhich just dose 60ml of Aqua 2x per week. No TE, PO4, K and Mg.

60ml, you think alot? Assuming your 3ft is 180L, 60ml of Aqua will only gives you per dose:

    NO3 ~ 10ppm
    K ~ 17ppm
    Mg ~ 1ppm
    Fe ~ 0.07

    Versus your 4ml dose :

    NO3 ~ 0.7ppm
    K ~ 1ppm + 10ppm
    Mg 0.06ppm + 0.5ppm
    Fe ~ 0.004ppm + micro

Where got enough N to support your lighted, CO2 enriched, high PO4 and low fish load tank?

Why not you give the full spec on this? Easier for us rather than speculating.

How are your plants responding now after one week? Any improvements?

I noticed you also have coral chips in your filter. So actually you need not dose extra Mg and Ca. Moreover our tap water also has Mg and Ca.

Hi, I think that the lighting is a bit on the high side, take out 10% for subtrate you will be using approx. 4.5 watts/gal. To me that's a bit too much lighting.
