If I'm not wrong moss plants are not that demanding and can grow in low light. 55W seems to be high 14W to 18W should be fine.
As long as your water is cool enough (below 28 degrees C), moss will grow quite easily.

Use seachem excel instead of Co2 tablets and no point supplying it 'sometimes' only.
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
I agree with Bryan, CO2 tablets are recipe for algae growth as the CO2 fluctuate too much. You can use a 36w light, but since you are 55, no point changing it, just make sure you have a small fan to cool down the water.
i see. thanks brother! =)
hi pal! my current setup, using a sunon fan. 55w pl lighting.. on about 6- 8 hours. 28degrees C.
fertilzar once a week. may i know is it to much for the light?
Nope should be OK. Your setup sounds fine. if you have algae growth, just throw in some floating plants to soak up excess nutrients for the moment.
No, do not do that. It is very tempting to correlate a ratio with timing with power wattage, but there is a limit to that from my own experience. You best stick 6 to 8 hours, the main reason is that all living things still have a bio clock tweak to sunrise and sunset. I would just let the tank get more dense in plant growth to soak up more nutrients if you are worried about algae, as simple as that. Get a pair of nerite snails to clean your tank if you are worried.
I guess 55W for a 2 ft comes to about 3wpg. That's good for a regular planted tank with a considerable amount of plants. I'm not sure but it sounds like it might be a little too much light for a moss tank if you have alot of fish producing a lot of nutrients in that tank. I guess it also depends on your fertilising routine and amounts. If all the moss put together are not going to suck up whatever nutrients that it going to be produced/put in, then that's only going to result in algae trouble; and we all know that hair algae in moss is hard to remove.
In short, I'd recommend low light for moss tank. My 2 cents worth.
I agree that it is possible. It depends on the nutrients in the water as well I guess. I had 2 ft too with 48 W and my moss was growing like crazy.
hi, may i know roughly how much ml of excel did u use for ur 2ft tank?
it was 2 caps of the small bottle per week. If you get the 2 litre bottle, it is 1 cap.
