Anyone here add aquarium salt into their planted tank to help keep fish diseases at bay?

What are the effects of salt in a planted tank, will it harm the plants?

    Thanks

from my limited knowledge , salt in larger quantities would kill the plants.

But how would it keep diseases at bay i am not too sure , any idea on whether it would kill those ick , or free swimming parasites ?

Use aquarium salt when there is a need for it.

Salt would kill off planted organisms right ? thus would it be possible to put in some salt , and control the more common algae types with it ?

    Hi NBK

Most plants have some form of resistance to salt but it does not go beyond the 3 tbsp mark. Algae will still thrive and has a higher resistance level.

Algaes have been around since the beginning of life on earth....they will find a way to survive since they have done so for 65 million years.....so you need to give them respect....

they are getting all the respect and recognition they need . Appearing on forums , sites , being topics of discussions , lol .

hahaha seems like i'll just have to let em slowly crawl on my gravel , tank i can scrap em off , but gravel ? haizz.... []
seems like Green gravel might be coming out into the market soon , so it goes with the algae
