Hi Ana, how big is your tank? U can throw in a pair of oto or platys to help the cycling process in your tank. To speed up cycling, u can buy those bacteria culture from lfs. I used ocean free brand.
I have just setup my new tank with plants about 3 days ago. Please advise when is the best time to introduce the fishes. I thought of putting in the oto first as the glass of the tank started to have trace of algae I think. Please enlighten. Thanks.

Mine tank is 4x2x2 ft. Yes, I have added Nutrafin Cycle to speed up the cycle. I think is good to add the oto to put the algae under control especially those shown on the glass. Maybe, I should add a few at a time. I am going to transfer the fishes from my old 2ft tank. Oto will go first, then the shrimp and follow by the rummy nose, and then the rest. Total, I should have around 30 fishes and some shrimps. Any suggestions? Thanks and have a Happy Chinese New Year.

hi Ana
think you should transfer 50% on the first go and the second half two weeks later...should you try all at a go, best to monitor the water parameter every two days.
floating plants at this point helps to eliminate some of the nasty elements....tell me when you want the frogbits

The title below my name does not make me a guru...listen at your own risk!...
Ana, if your old tank is disease free, it helps speed up cycling by transfering some water from old tank to the new one.
Happy Chinese New Year to u too.[]
I buy your idea!!! Thanks WKS. How come I have never thought of that...brillant idea.----------------

Ok, I am set to transfer the fishes this coming weekends. Thanks for your offering for the frogbits, I started to think that I need them badly. I will call you to arrange for the collection of the frogbits; but of course at your very convenient.----------------

Here is a picture of my newly setup tank. If you see carefully, there are some small patches of algae started to grow on the glass already.

add in ur shrimps now
Ana,
I noticed that you put in the inlet and outlet pipes in the same corner. Is it b'cos you tank is 3 sided config? This may result to poor circulation.
As for adding fishes, you may want to monitor either NO2, NO3, NH3 or all the above. It will tell you whether the cycling is enuf to sustain your bioload.
BTW, nice looking setup....
Hi AnA
Nice clean setup. Esp. like ur driftwood in the right corner.

May I know where and how much u paid for the piece of driftwood with moss on the right side of your tank??
Looks like u got everything ready.

Hi AnA
Where did u get ur tank (& cabinet) & for how much?
Thx
Nizz
you should be able to put in most of your fish now
you have quite a fair number of plants in there which will make cycling the tank more comfortable for them
Hi Ana, nice layout. Hope u have better luck with your japonica. Mine never survive despite trying three times. Now give it up.
Hi Wks, thanks!!! I hope they survive too. I have left them in not optimal conditions for at least a month in my old tank before transfering to the new tank.----------------
