Yarrghhh!! Maggot in my hairgrass!! *GROSS*

Horrible sight today!! Saw a clump of hairgrass moving on my driftwood, thought it's a shrimp moving it, but on zooming in saw that it was something much smaller, thought dun tell me so fast got baby shrimp liao somemore so strong can carry that clump of hairgrass, but realised to my horror there was a maggot crawling from its hairgrass cocoon!! ABSOLUTELY GROSS!! How it can survive underwater probably means it's some maggot of a waterborne creature. YUCKS!!

i suspect it to be a tape worm rather than maggot; reason : overfeeding

Nope can't be since there's no fishes inside only shrimps and plants and i never feed anything. Saw a second one and after spilting up the hairgrass cocoon it was hiding in it looks just like a caterpillar in fact, only caterpillars can't survive in the water!! Maybe it's a dragonfly or something, but i ain't gonna find out. Into the toilet bowl it went.

Yours not so gross. I seen some worms moving in my gravel before. Don't know how those worms get inside the subtrate. Looks like earthworm.

did you use live worm as feed before?

I have seen tubifex worms grow big and long in the substrate when they escape the jaws of my fish.

hi,
read somewhere that if you are using live food, some parasites called 'hydra' may appear if you do a bit of overfeeding. They are white, wormlike and somewhat furry.

i nvr intro live feeds only frozen bloodworms. But they are not bloodworms confirm

Assuming you're trying to say that there's no guarantee that the worms in frozen bloodworms are all bloodworms.

I think it depends on brand. But I will admit, it will be near impossible to check every single worm before they pack and freeze them. I suppose some brands would have better quality control then others.

is it true that SMALL worms will be eaten up by fishes if they happen to see it??? is it better to leave or try to get rid of it if u happen to see worms inside e tank??
even not over feeding or feeding live worms(i will not feed live worms anyway...deseases)it will just appeared in the tank even not visible to the eyes izit true??
