Trying this plant at LFS but no luck, Oriental also don't have, only version.

Some book say there is only one type, when there isn't enough light, plant will turn green.

Is it true that there is only one type?

Does anyone has the green type to offer (FOC/$$)?

    Bro,

got 2 types. The green type, the leaf is green on the top but reddish at the bottom. The red type both side also red.

You may want to call Teo if they have stock anot.

Your water parameters should be c02 rich else the leaves will have holes.

    Good luck!

Teo doesn't have Barclaya at the moment (I was there just hours ago). For reasons still unknown to me, my Barclayas decided to die one after another recently (dropped all its leaves and flower stems).

Barclaya will shed all their leaves at a certain point of time in the year, and will recover over a period. Read up more on the plant itself.

When leaves have hole, is it due to the lack of CO2?

I thought that it is due to the insufficient of nutrient.

The green form is very rare. I have only seen it once in the past 2 years. It was in PE-WE alley. I sort of regretted not buying it even though it was selling at $18 for that plant.

The common ones are the red form. The leaves do turn dark green under certain condition. But the green form has much lighter colour than that. The bottom of the leaves is light purple... very beautiful.

I have been searching in vain for that plant. If you guys have lobang, do let me know.

I'm no expert, by speak from my limited experience..
I once bought a Barclaya with lots of hole. Thought it was not enough nutrients.

So happily planted it and wait...but every time the new leave emerge and matured, circular holes developed.

Some even say due to snail...but I disagree...

I also read about bacteria infection...so I tried this theory. I trim all the old leaves and leave only the new grown leaf (1 only)...and Wah Lah! tilll now not a single leaf develop holes.

However, triy at your own risk...risk killing your plant...

been to teo also, they said no stock at the moment.
apparently, i think it is collected near the Myanmar border and
with the current unresolved conflict, they think it is unlikely to
    get any stock soon.

i used to have one that refused to grow but did not die till very recently.

Can all Green Barclaya fans try to hunt for it? More people can spot it easier...then come back to tell each other..OK?

I'm searching very hard and will inform you guys when I find it.
    Thanks

Now, even the red form is out of stock.
Cannot find both the Green and Red form anymore...from LFS.

Does anyone has the Green Barclaya to offer for good $$?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Barclaya green and red are usually available in Bangkok. The guys here say that the red form grows in southern Thailand while the green form (pale green and pink) grows in the northeast.

If anyone really wants it I can have a look around and send it (a bulb) to you by post. Alternatively I sometimes visit Singapore (maybe Aquarama??) and could bring some with me, assuming I can still get hold of it. Just let me know...

Send me an email and I'll let you know. I won't have time to look around the shops until next week though... hope you can wait that long. Let me know how many you want and if you want red form too.

    Lawrence,

Thanks! Hope to meet up with you when you come down for Aquarama.

    All,

Just paid a visit to Precious Aquarium after my dinner today and was told that they will have some Barclaya in 1-2 week's time. They claimed that their supplier needs time to sort out the bulbs - I have a feeling they are relying on 1st growth to determine the exact colour form. Still looking for C. pygmaea and nana 'Stardust' but those belong in another thread, another time.

Looking forward to meeting you guys too. Just hope I can find the Barclaya between now and Aquarama.

If you do find C. pygmaea (or C. affinis or any other unusual crypts), please let me know. I just love those plants.

    Bye for now
