Hi all, wishing to lay back and smell the roses sometimes but in this society that we are in, I can only find solace setting up my own 'backyard'.

    Garden & it's tools.

    30cm cube glass tank(Mizuworld)
    Iflo inlet/outlet lilly pipes(Mizuworld)
    ADA Bacter100(NA)
    Gex aquatic soil(NA)
    Eheim Classic 2211 canister filter(NA)
    BioHome(Y618 )

Now I have to relax. Shopping is taxing in Singapore too. Taking it slow..

    Re: Cube Garden (Lazy Backyard)

Having my much awaited off-day today, time for my backyard.

Flora: Spiky moss and Jap. hairgrass

Have been saving this branchy driftwood for a while now in my 4ft tank, hope it will not leak too much tannin.
Still deciding if this is garden is going to go low or semi high tech tank. This factor will pretty much going to determine the foreground plant.

    Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

    just a suggestion.
Relaxing and CLEAN garden if I forgot to mention. With the media all jammed packed, I have doubts its 300l/h anymore.
In fact, I might change to a higher flowrate canister if a chiller is to be installed. ;p

Eheim Mechanical Filter media (Eheim Mech) (SeaView),

    Hi 3inone,

I'm no expert too, but imagine the difference in flow rate between an empty canister and another packed full with bio/mechanical medias. I'm sure you get the picture.

When I choose a pump/filter I would consider the following (solely my opinion):
    - how much bio media it can hold (for bacteria housing).
    - low power consumption, less heat produced thus chiller don't kick in so often (energy saving).
    - it is able to cycle 8 to10 times my water volume in a hour.
    - spare parts are available locally.

    Bros,
Any LED light recommendations for my 'lazy backyard'?

I am using a 2211, i got to admit that once all the medias are in the flow rate definetly will be cut tremendously. What make it worse is once the dirt start building up the flow rate will be cut more. As 2211 is quite a small cannister, flushing the cannister regularly is recommmended. At least in my opinion. Anyway will you be placing the cannister beside the tank or underneath? that makes a difference also..

    Cheers.

The LED light is from LumenAqua. It is made in China but surprises me with it's slick design and nicely polished acrylic top and bottom. Even the heat sink in the centre is nicely done. This lightset changes my mindset on the taboo with China made products. It compliments the crystal glass tank. Most importantly, setting up was a breeze, very stable even it's a clip on.

    Some photos of the lightset.
The packaging (nothing to shout about frankly).

    The specifications.

    The components inside.

    Re: Cube Garden (Lazy Backyard)

I was at IMM with my family a month ago and chanced upon a Marine reef and fish exhibition. Chanced upon this booth show casing their LED lights and this lightset caught my attention. Kept their business card (Aquarium Artist), and it was until yesterday I decided to get from them. The guy who liaise with me was friendly and taught me a thing or two about LEDs. I won't reveal pricing here, PM me if you want to know.

Saw another thread about IceProbe TEM chiller. Has anyone used it before? Couldn't find it in the aquarium shops, bring in from overseas only? Please share your experience, thanks.

The nano CO2 system, expensive and restricted by high cost to get a solenoid for it's size. Seem like it's back to manual regulating.

    Re: Cube Garden (Lazy Backyard)

do you need co2 emission for your set up bro? looks like only with moss on the driftwood right?

by the way, saw that your slope is quite high to the back, don't you have soil erosion with that height? just for your information, if you have shrimps, they are super at flattening the slopes as i am experiencing that currently...

    Re: Cube Garden (Lazy Backyard)

Here's the update from last night back breaking planting.
Added Glossostigma to the front (75% of the pot were discarded as they do not make the cut) . Hairgrass (Eleocharis parvula) at the back just behind the Japanese Hairgrass to create dimension.
