The tape grass i have seems to be bubbling rather vigourously when the lights are on . But my tenellus aint doing so . at first i thought it was nutrient problem , but after i started dosing PO4 , my tennelus is still the same , just sitting on the bottom , some leaves browning and dying , While the tape grass is happily making big bubbles [:0]

    its a small 2footer , 30watts of FL lights . CO2 Injection with a reactor ~2bps or so .
Bioload consists of just a bunch of tetras and shrimps of such .
Dosing fert from jason and also mallick's kh2po4(just abit , a few grains each water change for the PO4)

what could be wrong here ?? PH ? KH ? but a ~6 in ph should be fine while ~6-8kh seems alright ?? Temperatures an ambient of ~29 aint too bad right ??

i really fail to see what i'm doing wrong here [] unless chloride needs to be dosed too (!)

just a wild thought.... could it be that they have made enuff "food" and thus stopped ? [:0] []

as for lighting period , do u guys think 12hrs is too long ???

    E. tennelus don't usually bubble unless the leaves are nicked.

The leaves turning brown can be 2 things:

    1. Emmerse leaves shedding to make way for submersed ones. (Are the new leaves different in shape compared to the new?)

    2. E. tennelus leaves will turn reddish brown under direct lighting. This is normal.

but it seems like after any water change , they will pearl under the leaves [:] initially majority of the leaves had a stem while raising from the crown , but now mainly its just sword-like leaves .

I have the same problem, initally with leave of the E. tennelus turning brown and eventually die off. Then new shoots which r narrower will come out and replace those who die off. As long as there are new shoots coming out, I think should be no problem.

that should be the emersed form of tennelus. narrow sword-like leaves are submersed leaves.

what exactly are you dosing right now?
