Can anybody tell me what are the types of algae-eaters are out there and how much do I expect to pay for each one? Where can I find them now? Would appreciate layman terms and links to pictures if you can.

    Thanks

Where you stay? So some can advice you where to buy..
If you want Near by shop, try to tell precise location, not just North or West.

    For e.g.
If you stay in the east, recommend to go West is stupid right?

SAE - one should do in a 2ft tank. They grow relatively big and lazy afterwards. See this site for identification: http://www.aquaticscape.com/articles...lgaeeatingfish

Otos - can get 5 to 10 for a start. Normally they have a relatively short lifespan in our planted tanks. From experience, few (if at all) live for a year in my tanks. Have to replenish them once in a few months. Gan's Farm has them at good prices.

otos is quite hardy. some otos in my tank have been with me for almost 2 yrs. it seems that if they can survive the first few weeks, they will last. and i got all my otos from gan.

I asked around the LFS, prices quoted for the following algae cleaning crew:

    Yamato - 50 for $40
    Cherry shrimp - 50 for $40
    Malayan shrimp - 100 for $12

Are these prices reasonable? How many shrimp is good for 2ft? Should I wait till I get my setup properly done or cycled?

Just a enquiry, how much does bristlenose plecos cost is SG?

    Thanks

You kena chop carrot already. Here (Aljunied) selling Malayan Shrimp 100 for $10. I took 50 for my 2 ft tank, but i dunno if they are really sensitive or my water quality sucks, but quite a number died now left about 40 i think. Cherry Shrimp looks nice but i dunno how well they eat algae though. Saw Jacky Wu eat Cherry Shrimps in a Taiwan variety show my heart ache!

    Huh?

$2 more only! you consider kena chop carrot????

If people stay in Jurong, I don't think they want to travel down to Aljunied to save that $2.

    Just my thought.

    Hi,
I think that was the price quoted for the cherry shrimp. But I could be wrong. Anyway LFS is K&K at 201E, Tampines.
