Thanks Bro, guess its a no go for my low tech tank. Didn't want to have soil as previous experience shows that the shrimps will chew on the soil

Would you consider setting up with based fert covered by a layer of sand? That will work.
Crypts are worth the effort, they are beautiful plants!

Yes its a new set up, not sure how my black quartz fare with base fert though! Might give it a shot
I have Crypto Parva in my low-tech 2 feet tank without any base fertilisers and they are surviving well although I put in macro and micro fertiliser regularly. It may depends on which Crypto type you are planting.
