    Hi all,
I'm gonna be setting up a 2ft tank this weekend. Hope to get some pointers from all 'sifus' in this forum.

    Tank: 2ft x 1ft x 1ft
    Filter: Fluval 2plus
Light: 1x overhead 20W light (Planning to buy another overhead 36W soon)
    Fert: JBL Aquabasis 5kg bag
Gravel: 15kg of 1-2mm size gravel
CO2: trying to do DIY for the moment

    PLAN:
    1. Lay whole tank with JBL Aqua.
    2. Place some 'Root Monster' tablets in the fert.
    3. Top up with gravel to about 3cm above fert
    4. Plug in filter, adjust to 'low-flow' output
    5. Lighting only on 20W initially, depends when I buy the 36W

Will plant fast-growing species in the beginning. Then maybe go on to riccia, glosso, moss, anubias, cabomba,...etc.

Also thinking of doing a moss wall. Anybody got advise on how to do it?

Technical question: How do moss, riccia get their nutrients since they do not get in contact with the gravel surface?

Thanks & will keep a log of my setting up for the benefit of other newbies!

Mosses and riccia pull their nutrients from the water column.

In fact, all aquatic plants will pull nutrients using their leaves from the water.
