Is there any shrimplets in the tank currently? But warn you, tetra might nib at adult shrimps as well.

Tetras eat shrimplets and might stress out adult shrimps. The single tetra will also be stressed because they love to school.
I had Neon tetras before in my tank and they ate my shrimplets.
Possible, I see at seaview, there have a tank with shrimps and neon tetras.
as a short term solution to the worms issue, it is ok, ie put in a couple of tetras, give them a few days to eat up the worms, then remove them. i did it last time, then control your feeding pattern because in my case the worms issue is due to overfeeding. my tetras were in my CRS tank for 2 days only. you can see them eating the worms immediately.
I have 7 neon tetras & Sakura shrimp in my 40" x 19" x 24" tank, have been keeping them together for a year and the shrimp population is still blooming.
However I have alot of java moss for the shrimps as hideout.
Actually my 2 ft tank includes runny nose, cardinal and lamp eyes with malayan shrimps and yamaoto shrimps for algae issue....my observation is stm the fishes might assume the shrimps are food if the shrimps swim up...if not they will simply ignore them so long u feed them well...i do have shrimplets too hiding among bottom of the hairgrass..but the shrimp population is growing @ a very slow pace
Just an observation from my tank
If you want to put tetra for the long term, better to get a few more as they do better in groups. But once your CRS breeds, you should remove them as they would eat the shrimplets whenever there is a chance.
I am keeping a few neon tetras with my shrimps currently but wanna let go of a few tetras. If you interested let me know
