    Hallo aizaspurz,

the pot do make your tank look unnatural, perhaps u can try constructing a cave with some rocks for your fish to hide.
What fishes beside neon are you keeping? They dun seem to be going for a place to hide.
I would recommend you to get some angel fish to send them shivering in the pot []

    May god bless you, anarchy

aizaspurz, hope yours turn up well. I have planted mine like 3 weeks already, but due to GW and blackout method used. Mine Glosso have yet to bloom. what I did is cut of some nodes, and plant them deep till only the top 2 leaves are just above the gravel.

3 weeks on (with disruption as mentioned, GW and baclkout), now tiny new leaves are showing up. Hope mine will turn out well.

    Keep trying, dun give up!!!

hwchoy - OK. Heard you loud and clear now. Thanx for the tips.

juggler - Hmm, I suppose they're barnacles. The white corals are indeed attached to the rock. I picked those rocks from the beach near the sampans at West Coast Beach. Hope I'm not committing an offence

squall99e - Yup. I agree with you it's awkward somehow. But then again, I've got no clue how to build a cave as you suggested.

At this point in time, I just wanna make sure the tank settles down with the plants growing well and none of the fish die. Once that's achieved, re-scaping may be done. Thanx for the suggestion

Daz - All the best to you and your glosso too. I promise you I'll try []

    Anarchy,

Did you receive my PM/email on the newbie issue in AQ?

I suggest you think twice before shooting off your mouth at forummers (For the record, what's wrong with juggler asking for confirmation that those are barnacles on the rocks in the tank - and juggler is surely no clueless newbie).

If you refuse to even give people a chance to learn, or at least point them in a direction whereby they can learn and get information for autonomous learning, you can at least do a lesser disservice by refraining from deconstructive comments.

    Anarchy,

People can decorate their tanks whichever way they like. If you think it will harm the tank, say so. If not, and you do not have anything nice, useful or constructive to say, please refrain from commenting.

    Thank you.

Come on Anarchy, that's not the spirit of a nature loving person. How can one loves nature when one has prejudices against differences?

Anarchy......I don't really understand your anger. Seems you have something against me though you have not met me before.

If those barnacles are of no BENEFITS to my planted tank.....or even if they are indeed harmful, simple lah. Lemme know about it. And I will listen.

But again.....are you prepared to share your knowledge?? You are quick in shooting noobies down but you don't give us solution. I really wonder why.

I'm in this forum to LEARN. But seems you're here to shoot whatever WRONG I did. Why ar??

you cannot link to the full-res image in imagestation, you can only link to the "thumbnail" which you can get by removing the .orig.jpg suffix.

here I fixed it for you…

    Hi all,

What I'm doing now, is to grow glosso on driftwood. I'm simply chucking strands of glosso into the crevices on the driftwood, and hope that they start getting rooted and creeps along the wood.

The only thing is, my yamatos are pulling some of them out, urgh! On a hindsight, I should have tied them, but well, I'm too lazy I guess.

    Cheers,

    Kenny

You will find they will soon overwhelm (assuming growing condition is good) the wood and start crawling all over with their tendril-like runners.

Haha, yeah, that's something I'll have to conrtol.

I used to use them for foreground, but when they grow to a few layers thick, they tend to trap detritus and this invites algae and even BGA!

That is why this time around, I moved my aro out, so that I can be more vigorous in my trimming of the plants and keep them in check.

    Cheers,

    Kenny

yeah, very hard to control. HG easier to control but an even BIGGER algae and dirt magnet.

Easy? Hairgrass was the first plant I've ever used a comb during maintenance. And they can never be clean less uprooted.

Anarchy, I think you will be busy 'commenting' if you are visting the taiwanese aquatic forum. There are so many 'huts', 'fences' and even 'divers with treasure boxes' in their tank...
