i think the easiest way to thin a lawn of tennelus is to pull out some of them. cutting leaves from the tennelus is tedious and may not thin it out by much. Moreover, doesnt look nice that way. so just pull out a few clumps and you should be fine. the rest will repopulate the foreground in a while.

hope you dun create to much a mess uprooting. doing it before a water change would be ideal.

A way is to just cut them across the lawn, leaving the crown and a bit of the leave in tact. They will grow back in just a few days, only to be denser and nicer. You just have to scoop floating leaves off.

Uprooting stirrs up too much dirty, and it takes rather long again for them to form up any lawn, if there was any nice one previously. Gan's tank of tenullus is a good example of the trimming method.

i argee with lorba it is a good method and try to trim as low as possible as the cut off leaves would turn a little yellow

place your scissors horizontal, parallel to your tenullus carpet/lawn. Then just cut 70% - 90% of the leaves until they look botak.
