    Hi All,

I notice that some medicine and fish food have no expiry dates on them.

How would we know how long we can keep them?

As long as they're kept dry?

    Thanks!

FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

To be honest, if it looks like ten years old, it probably is. I avoid those that looks old and grubby. Only the bigger brands have expiry dates on them anyway.

For medication, I rely on visual stimuli. If the original colour of the medication is, say green, and it turned purple after a while, then it has expired.

For fish food, never rely on your olfactory sense, cos' if you bring the rotten food too close, some power germs might just hop into your nostrils - meaning they jump the human barrier, which is quite scary in today's context.
The way I do it is to scrutise suspect fish food under a power magnifying lens (better still under a microscope, if you have one ) to look for moulds and crawling mini bugs. If you see them, then it's goodness is no more.

So either buy from reputable brands or food that still swims

But no less valid today. I have dead/dying fishes all the time and even more recently. Was just looking at the expiry dates on the packaging.
