    Seems to be either stiphodon atropurpureus or stiphodon elegans. These 2 species seems to be more common in Singapore than other stiphodon sp. All thrives well in a matured tank & feed on algae growing on the tank walls & plants & I have even observed some of my stiphodon gobies feeding on artemia nauplii i kept them the last time. If you want them to breed, I guess low water temperature is the key to breeding stiphodon sp.

    Definitely not s. atropurpureous.......http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...pureus&id=1374

    Mine have learned to eat everything....bloodworms, carnivore pellets etc. Beware feeding too much protien. Their system is not meant for it.

    Breeding has not been done sucessfully as far as i know. They have an amphidromous breeding cycle, similar to amano shrimp.

    hi limz_77,

    I never kept any other gobies other than the genus of stigmatogobius, brachygobius & stiphodon. They are more common in Singapore than the rest as far as I know. You can try searching for some ornamental fish exporters, I'm sure some of them might carry it in some of their shipments. These are some of the exporters that i know of, hope it might be helpful to you;

    hi plamoo,

    I should say stiphodon gobies are a very confusing group of gobies, so I would prefer to call them stiphodon sp. or simply stiphodon would suffice but I think mine should be stiphodon elegans if I'm correct. There's a japanese goby breeder who breeds & knows the various identifications of the stiphodon. He even has a website;

    I should say it looks pretty informative with all the pictures to help in the identification.
