I went to Melbourne last year and tried looking for a lfs. They have none there(I walked through the whole city centre) except a pet shop in Victoria market selling some goldfish and betta.

Australia, I believe, has very stringent restrictions on the sale of exotic plants/fishes. So many species common in Asia, US and Europe are banned there. Personally, I won't bother much with the local LFS, unless you are looking for specifically native Australian species.

Anybody knows any Aquatic Plant Dealers in Melbourne or Brisbane??
I want to visit them when I go next week for a short holiday.
Joachim
----------------Was @ Brisbane during my UNI days, they have a couple of LFS but very pathetic trust me. The quality you are seeking can be found there....and the pricing would be much much more too.----------------

Do they stock a lot of brands like in Singapore? ANother question, do u think its possible to transport my 5L Co2 tank from NA and maybe ATman 4 FT lights later if I were to move permanently to Australia....cos its definitely cheaper to purchase eqm here as you know
Joachim
maybe you can ask teo?
since they do importing/ exporting, they might tell you where...
My friend,
Just be carefull when you plan to bring out plants from Ausie, considering the very very strict regulation to exchange illegal plants/animals (heard that somebody was sent to jail because of this)
I believe Singapore is the best one to source plants (beside USA,Holland,Germany & Denmark), specially after I travelling around the world.
Enjoy your trip.

I believe I won't be buying plants in Australia and bringing them back, because.....all the species I saw at a shop are similar and cost nearly 5 times more! In fact the most expensive....Anubias on Drift word fetched $79 bucks!!!----------------
