Just bought some yesterday. Admit that i do not know much about their needs before i bought them and a bit shocked to see their range of temperature range from 18 to 26 degrees Celcius. This is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve without a chiller. I only have a fan which brings the temperature down to 27 degrees ON A COLD DAY. Normally at least 28 degrees, and on hot days like last night almost 30 degrees. Does this mean that the fishes sure mati sooner or later? I heard they can only take out of norm temperature for short time.

    Hi Darkkon,

These minnows are more adaptable than you think. They not only survive but can breed, even in our climate.

Don't believe me? Dump a pair or two into a medium size pail with lots of java moss. Just feed and maybe a bi-weekly water change and you'll see young frys.

If you're not breeding them, don't worry... they won't die as easily unless otherwise abused []

Haha..it brings back memories of the singapore brainiest kid final.

Don't worry about the temperature thingy...the fact that they are swimming in the tanks of the LFS that you bought the fish from tells you that they have acclimatise to the local conditions pretty well.

    Hi Darkkon,

Don't worry, they are very adaptable fishes. Temp shouldn't be a concern for them. I had a couple of them in my 2ft for more than a year and they certainly are attractive fishes to have.

As long as they are bred in Singapore, they should do ok in our local water temperatures. I now have 2 in my tank; they have been there for a few months already and they don't seen to mind the temperature. [:]

The albino form of White Cloud Mountain Minnows is very ugly IMO. Try the long-finned variant instead if you prefer something a bit more outstanding. They are available at a good number of well-stocked LFSs every now and then.
