    hi,
I am looking for shrimps to control my algea problem. I saw some of them at a fishshop. They are those meant to be fish food. Can i buy those and put in my tank?

    Thanx....

    No, buy Yamato shrimp.

Those shrimps are Glass/Ghost shrimp. They are scavenger and at times prey on fish they can catch. They do not eat algae. They will hunt down and attack the other shrimp species.

also attack sleeping fishes. If they can't get them low to ground, they will climb up a 'tree' and leap from there to catch fishes that sleep in the 'mid-air'

What algae? Each of the different algae crew eat different algae. Besides SAEs are smart... if they know the tank gets a regular feeding, they will wait for fish food.

A couple of otocinclus or commonly know as "xiao jing ling" will solve your brown algae problem. SAE don't really touch brown algae.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

this site has a pretty good gallery clickable on the top right. look under catfish.

There is also a lot of information in the Aquatic FAQ and older threads on the forums..... please have a look through to learn more about the hobby...... not all regulars are able or willing to answer every question in detail, so if you can do some reading up and ask questions that clarify what you are learning, it would yield more fruitful reponses. Thank you.
