Re: Hi, beginner starting a new shrimp tank
hi there, welcome to the world of shrimp poison. i will try to answer your doubts ( although all questions you asked can be found in google )
- 2 feet tank
great for beginner and able to control the water parameter better
- 2kg of gex red packet soil
for 2 feet, i will recommend 8-9 litres of soil to achieve soil thickness of 5 cm
- led light
good enough if you intend to have moss only
- japanese brand filter
it depends on the flow rate, external canister ? hang on filter ?
1) what type and how many shrimps should should i start off with?
its good to start with around 20 shrimps
2) what are the things that i must particularly take care of?
water parameter, water temperature
3) how 2 setup layers of "grass like" plants ?? saw lfs selling them in pieces of wire mesh. need 2 remove them from the wire mesh??
yes, you will need to replant them into the soil, strand by strand. But, its better to keep moss only tank as you will need fertilizers for the glass like plants. Some fertilizer has copper, which is deadly to shirmps.
you will still need at least a fan to lower the temperature. But due to the evaporation rate, the water parameter will mess up if you do not do any top up with distilled water.
its always better to start from neocardinal sp first as they are more hardy than the sensitive CRS.
take a look through the sticky and you will understand more before you start setting up your tank
good luck
