Maybe you would like to vary the leave shapes at the background a little. I think the water sprite will take over the tank very soon. It might be helpful during this cycling period you are in though. Perhaps after the cycling, you can add some stem plants with small leaves to fill the background instead. Some foreground plants like glosso would be nice too.

If you intend to have foreground plants like glosso, APP, Hairgrass and etc, you might have difficulty in planting them into the your gravel. However, it would be nice to have some driftwoods with moss in your tank.

The tank has been fishless cycled and has been in operation for a few months already. The problem in this tank is BGA, i cant get rid of it. I got some kind of nutrient balance and cant figure it out. The gravel hasnt been a problem so far but im thinking of redoing this tank with Shultz AP Soil and Eco complete in the future. Thanks for the comments, keep em coming.

For BGA, do a total blackout for 3-5 days depending on the seriousness. Before the blackout, remove as much of the affected plants as possible and then do a 50% water change. Add 1/8 tsp of KNO3 after the water change and finally the blackout. Make sure you stop the CO2 injection, aerate the tank and make sure absolutely no light gets in during that period or else it might not work. After the blackout, do another 50% water change and add 1/8 tsp of KNO3. Make sure your CO2 is good and dandy (20-30ppm throughout the entire photoperiod) by doing frequent changes of brew CO2 or simply invest in a CO2 tank. Dose enough nutrients for the whole week and ensure they don't run out should do the trick.

    Hi depthC,

Your BGA could be due to extremely low nitrates since you are doing fishless cycling, hence no wastes.

    See here for algae info

Well my nitrate are always low so i plan on purchasing a bottle of Seachem Nitrate since i need to dose it because my fish arnt producing enough waste.

Do note that seachem nitrogen is a combination of both ammonia and nitrate. Too much of it and you get algae problems...I would suggest you get KNO3 instead and it is definitely much cheaper.

Try getting the stuff through Rex Grigg from the aquabotanic forum. The forum is US and canada based.
