Microrasbora kubotai Kottelat & Witte 1999

Photo leeched from Rayon Vert Aquaria

Went to the old Ah Pek farm (first unit, facing behind, as you enter Lor Halus fish farm) and saw the best looking Microrasbora kubotai I've seen so far. Not too big sized yet but very intense colour and green stripe, like the above picture from RVA.

You can contact Gabriel 98301423 to check stock.

I do not find it very aggressive actually and I do have 5 sawbwa resplendens in the tank as well. maybe Mr Tree you might just get the "naughty" batch. In fact, I bought it from an LFS that kept it together with briggitae and there were no problems at all, moreover, briggitae are much smaller than sawbwa resplendens.

in fact, i think they are very gregarious fishes who despite their size, dare swim in open water. and they school pretty well by boraras or microrasbora standards.

very nice fish, they are... must try for those into asian fishes...

Got the kubotai from Biotope. Lovely colours

They are living quite peacefull with my hengeli, in fact I think they are losing out during feeding to my hengelis

Anyone seen the Sundadanio axelrodi (hope I spelt it right) in any of the LFS?

C328 has a tank of green tetra according. According to the aunty its a new type of green tetra, just one green strip where the blue strip of the neon/cardinal is. Anyone one seen it? What species is that?

I seen both the green neon and the kubotai, IMHO the kubotai is a nicer fish to look at.

Colours are nicer than the green neon. Green neons green colour doesnt really stand out as much

Really? Inle Lake water is alkaline?

Mr Tree, where did you get that information from? I would like to read about it. Can pm me the link?

Many of the Myanmar fishes comes from there, and stated in many books, these fishes prefer acidic water.

    you have an interesting finding.

But my Sawbwa colours are quite blue even in my acidic waters. (filtered with peat) did you try putting them in alkaline waters? can show a picture of your sawbwa in alkaline water? me interested to see!

    Thanks in advance!

it's from my jap magazines, pisces books, the year book 2003, you can flip the pisces book of carp like at biotope if you don't have a copy.

there was a field report by Kobayashi (young guy) on myanmar including inle lake in aqualife magazine too.

this fish is consumed by the natives.
