Sure it can, mate! Ever been to Sam Yicks at Marine Parade? Their Java Moss lawn must be at least a foot tall in the big display tank. One thing you must know though once it's established it's here to stay. And getting things, especially dead ones, stuck in a thick moss lawn ain't gonna be pretty.

Seems very tempting to use moss as lawn. I have seen the one at NA. Looks good... but I guess if the bottom starts to rot and the top will detach from the base. I guess have to trim it quite often to maintain.

Ho Ho...wait till u see an entire batch of them stuck in the filter whilst the rest of em slowly rot. Whats the worst if u may ask? BGA!!! and most of em starts to fuze together. Shucks...it becomes a fish killer thereafter.

Thats why maintenance becomes a problem if u dun do ur homework.

Well, I have this idea cos I think moss is easy to raise and maintain in my 2-ft tank. Now I've already tried to tie moss pieces with small round stones under each piece and placed them on the floor to form that lawn.
Really wanna see any progress in this experiment! wish me good luck! (but i was too afraid that the shrimps would eat most of the young leaves, so now there's not a single shrimp in the tank. Is that a correct move?)

    thanx and any comments again?

i believe Chan uses wire mesh and tie the moss onto it like how riccia is tied, it also shouldn't be too hard to maintain except for dirt collected on them which can be siphoned
