    Hi to all....

I just change my FL lite(120w) to Pl lite(144w) 3 days ago and ever since I did that my red plant got redder and green plat get greener but in the morning I noticed that my fish are all at the surface gasping for air. Why is this so?

    my tank is a 3x2x2ft COČ:24/7 at 30bpm. lite on for 9hrs/day

24/7 CO2 is the problem lah, I am also running 24/7 CO2 as my regulator very hard to get precise bubble count... But do you not have the same problem using the previous light setup? Funny, light shouldn't have an effect... Infact should improve O2 saturation during Lighted hours.

So I still suspect during light-out hours with CO2! Fishes, plants, bacteria, etc... takes in O2 and CO2 is given off in addition CO2 supply! thus O2 level drop naturally.

Its either you invest in a solenoid as it will switch off your co2 automatically once lights off.....or the cheaper method is to add air pump during lights off or directly turn off you CO2.

The best would be the solenoid or off CO2 during lights off.
Both would save you lotsa CO2.

This fish gasping for air does not happen with my previous FL lite but once I switch to PL it happen. Funny rite? Or does the plant takes time to adapt to the sudden lite change.?

What about the pH, kH? Any changes?
PL lights are hot and 144W may also heat up your tank.
