    hi all,

sorry for the random questions. But apparently i heard that Boraras brigittae (Mosquito rasbora) is a type of fish that only eats Seed Shrimps. My 2 feet tank has quite a colony of Seed Shrimps in it...sometime it will struck onto some of my sakura or even CRS.Any idea where can i get hold of this fish to clean my tank?

Qn. 1)will it eat seed shrimps as per mention in other forum?
    Qn. 2)will it eat shrimplets?
Qn. 3)after clearing all the seed shrimps will it attack the shrimplet?
Qn. 4)where can i buy this type of fish?

    Thanks and Regards.

Last Thursday, there's a huge batch of B. brigittae in their transport bags at C328. Planning to get them this week.

They do not only feed on the seed shrimps, but on other tiny things in the tank as well. There are easier ways to remove your seed shrimp without the need to use a biological agent, in this case the Boraras. You can choose to trap them, or siphon them out through a stainless steel strainer. There's a picture by eviltrain showing how he did it.

To answer the other questions, yes it will eat seed shrimp. Yes it will attempt to eat shrimplets if there is nothing else to eat. Yes it will still try to attack the shrimplets if it's hungry. You can purchase the Boraras at any store that stocks them. Whether they are stable or not is another question altogether.

Rule of thumb, if you wish to breed and raise shrimps exclusively in separate tanks, do not keep them with any fish except Otocinclus.
