    Hi Guys,
    I just re-planted my tank.
I have rotala in the background but it just doesn't seem to grow upwards. It is growing forward.
What could be the problem? There's a fan directly above the plants and could it have caused waves on the water which in turn pushes the plant away??
What can I do to make it grow straight?
    Thanks!

are there any external light sources near your tank?
like maybe sunlight, direct or indirect. Room lights?
your light near the front of your tank stronger than the ones at the back of your tank? your reflectors placed unevenly?

    To add on,
    1. Plants follow light source

    Unless
    2. There is a strong underwater current.

How long has it been since you replanted? It could take a few days or a week for the plants to re-orientate themselves.

If they have been persistently bending over, the light colour may be a factor.

It's only been less than two weeks.
So could it be what you were saying? Maybe after some time it would grow straight?
Anyway, the lights above them are the strongest.

Before the tank lights are turn on, is there an alternative light source from a window? The Rotala may follow in that direction during that period.

Haha i have the same problem dude, its because your fan's blocking direct light to the plant so it moves towards the closest source of light which in this case should be situated in the middle of your tank, thus it grows forward.

Try to remove your fan above it or just move it elsewhere for 3-4days you'll see what i mean.

can't be coz the fan is behind the light.
As for the alternate light source, my tank turns on early in the morning and off at night so shouldn't be a problem.
The other thing is, my rotala seems to be growing rather slowly. Instead of going up, it is now "bushing" up.
Hmm, what could be the problem.

What type of FL or PL tubes or MH bulbs you are using? What is the light on/off time? What fertiliser you use and what is the fertilisation routine?

The normal 6500K PL.... or 8000K PL or 10000K PL or the blue/white PL.

Some from other forums said that their plants bend due to the bluish spectrum light they use.

for those who keep their tanks in the balconies.
How do you prevent plants from bending towards the sun?
Doubt my lights can compete with the sun.
My APP is also bunching up near the front
