    Hi Guys,
How much lower can fans bring the water temperature to?
I am using the two mini fans type and my water still hits 28 degress especially these two crazy hot days!!!!! So if I use the four or even six fan types would it help??
I really can't afford chillers at this time

I am using a 12VDC 0.48Amps fan, able to cool the tank down to 26 degreeC hot days about 28degreeC

However I need to top up at least 1 - 2 litre of water a day...you put 4 fans I think you best connect the water pipe directly to your tank! hahahah!

28 degree at this hot weather is good enough.
By the way, what plants are you having?

I using only 1 fan but can bring the temp down to 26 degrees on an average day. Even on hot days like recently also can get 27 degrees. I don't know how you position your fan and lights, but in the past i clipped by the side to blow at an angle with lights right on top of the tank and couldn't get anything below 28.5 degrees. Then i lifted the lights by using stands and fan to blow right at the water from behing the tank and now getting 26 degrees. Perhaps you can try these too if you haven't.

Fan may reduce the tank temp but to how much depends on a few factors:

    1. Tank size - larger volume tanks will need more energy to cool
    2. Lighting - heat emmited will raise temperature
    3. Angle of air flow - Blowing at an angle will loose cooling effect but also reduce water evaporation
    4. Ambient temperature - if the surrounding temp. is warm, more energy needed to cool.
    5. Room ventilation - if the room air is stagnant, cooling effect will reduce.

To answer how cool will your tank get with your fan, only you will be able to answer. Give it a try.

    Good luck.
    Cheers!!
