sound like hair algae attack
Hi,
Appreciate if anybody can help me with my hairy fissiden problem.
The US fissiden that I started to plant on meshes and driftwood have started to grow hairy and it's really hairy.
Due to the recent spate of hot weather my tank temperature is around 30degrees, PH around 6.8 and I am using 4 tubes T5 lighting for my tank (5x2x2) with occasional dosage of Seachem flourish.
Sincere thanks to any kind souls who could advise me on what went wrong.
Newbie humble.

If it is green hairy algae, try introduce Yamato or Red nose shrimps. They will take care of it.
But if it is grey or dark color, SAE might help but mine did not like it so end up I snip all affected moss off.

Bro Jeff thanks for the advice, will try to introduce yamotos.
Yep! Yamato! I posted on the "Help: Algae on Fissiden" thread too!
does the hair algae look like this?
I've plucked out most of it already, will it grow back?
Hi Humble,
I recommend that you use a disposable wood chopsticks and link them up using rubber band and twirl them around these hair alage and pull them out and keep a close exercise using this method for few weeks.
I do not think Yamoto is effective as I used to have this problem and they are not eating them up either.
Yep.. Yamatoes are not very effective against these sort of algae
you have to starve them
