How do you propose to isolate the daphnia ? Cos to the fish , daphnia are food. Unless your fish are so big size that they would not be bother about the daphnia.
I usually get mine from Heng @ Tiong Bahru market. They are food for my fish.

no need isolate, just pour in massive quantity...

Hi adman76,
The easiest and cheapest (long term) way I know to get Daphnia is to get a wad of moss or Riccia from a large established tank, or some that has been grown outside in a pond. After that, setup a small tank-- say 30-40 liters, with a powerhead and a PC light. Be sure not to use established tank water as green water will be harder to get that way. After 2-3 weeks you will have a never ending supply of Daphnia and other fish treats.
I have a 20 gallon tank in which the only inhabitants are Daphnia, hydra, small flatworms and snails-- I don't keep fiah anymore. The Daphnia collect on the wood and glass in the green algae patches and work it like cows work a field. They systematically clear large patches, and are *very* effective attached green algae controlers. Much better than shrimp, IME.
For the record-- Daphnia will NOT clear up green water effectively. I've tried and tried. The best way is a UV sterilizer. The next best way is a 4-5 day blackout and then large water changes daily until it's gone.
Hope this helps.
