    Is this useful for planted tanks? Got one with me but never use. Its a Rena 8m long one. Asking for comments on this else will sell this off at a cheap price

    If you setting up your tank, it could be useful but if you already setup the tank, you can either keep it for your next setup or sell it away.

    Hi Joe,

    It's supposed to be good for planted tanks in terms of inducing convection currents to circulate the water in the substrate. This is suppose to prevent the substrate from going anerobic. Both Dennerle and Dupla also recommends it.

    I have a 75 W Dennerle substrate heater with themostat in my 5 ft planted tank. It's working ok, but I don't really know if there's any difference.

    If it's no trouble, why don't you consider using it instead?
