    Hi
Wanted to change my light tube to FL. The LFS gave me Actnic Blue for Marine. It is suitable for planted tank? Are there any difference in light spectrum for normal white light, cool light & Actnic blue?

Please help shed some "light" about the light spectrum requirement for planted tank.

    Thks.

generally, I think those tubes with a colour temp of between 6000 and 8000 K are ok.... it's usually indicated in fine print at one end of the tube or on the packaging.

If I'm not wrong the atnic blue tubes are >10000K colour temp. Not too suitable for plants but it will still work. It is said to atract algae but I've no first hand experience so I'm not too sure about that.
    Cheers!!
