Hi All,

Need some comments on the lighting of tanks. My tank is 4ft x 2ft x 2ft (water is about 90G). My lights turn on for 11 hours per lamp. The tank is lighted for 12 hours per day controlled my timers which turns on/off the lights 15 mins apart. Is this the right way of doing it? Should I turn on the compact lights for a shorter period of time. My problem is the hair algae growing in my tank. And one fish store owner tells me that my lighting hours is too long, I should reduce it to 8 hours per day.

Light fixture as follows:
4 x coralife 10,000 compact (36 watts each)
1 x coralife 10,000 flourescent (38 watts I think)
3 x Arcadia freshwater lights (38 watts each)
1 x Arcadia Tropical light (38 watts)

PS: I will be changing my lights soon, if you have a good idea how I should layout the light fixture please comment too. My idea is to use 4 x coralife compact fluorescent 6,500 K with 65 watts plus 2 x 36 watts of Nutri Grow fluorescent. Is this ideal? what should be the lighting hours be?

All constructive comments are welcome. Thanks in advance
