    Re: Apisto Identification needed

    Hi bro,
I think the one on the left is indeed a young Mendezi.
Not a bitaeniata(although it looks like one) due to the lack of "spiky/extended dorsal fins".

The one on the right could be Agassizii Alenquer or Tefe..
Can only tell when it's stable.

    Re: Apisto Identification needed

Thanks everyone for your input. I did not know it is not easy to distinguish them, perhaps I should take clearer picture when I have time.
One the left I am not so sure, but the one on the right, seem Tefe to me now that I search around for pictures.

    Re: Apisto Identification needed

    Yes, I think so.
I noticed the first one, at times when it flare, the body turn light color with only a block dot in the middle.

    Re: Apisto Identification needed

The mendezi on the left you mean?
Very hard to tell whether it is a male or female though... 50% chance to be a female from what you said.
Short ventrals is one indicator for it to be a female already

No idea man. I either buy from fellow hobbyist at this forum or from Y618. But even Y618 do not carry any recently.
