Can i make it like a floating bed of flame moss and it still survives? It seems a very very hardy moss .. I have seen photos of people using it as a bed for more emersed plants by using plastic mesh and on top still hav staurogyne

Re: Can flame moss survive without a host (rock/driftwood) - Emersed

Moss can be grown in almost any condition. the only exception that i found from growing moss without the help of the DW or mesh is that they grow in an untidy manner, not as beautiful as grown on a host. Also, they grow way slower floating.

    Advice from boss Felix

I see, basically i had xmas moss not doing well without host
I do not like DW in my tank
I will try tying flame moss on plastic mesh and see how it goes

I have peacock moss, it is doing well without host.
I think most moss can do well without host as long as they are in stationary position with enough light.

my java moss has no anchor but they grew relatively fast. cool water and enough light and nutrients is the key.
