    Hi

If the lower part of the stem turns yellowish and waste away, does that mean that my gravel is unsuitable for planting?
Or does my tank lack anything?

I have no base fert and i dose 2 drops of Aqualush weekly as i only have a few plants inside.

    Thanks
    Spencer

There are too many factors that can cause that....we need more specific details of the plant and the tank conditions in order to know the root cause. Just a few guess though...lack of light reaching the bottom? Anaerobic substrate? Poor planting technique? Are you sure it is a stem plant and not rosette plants?

Have you seen the form yet? I'm sure you know how much light you have in there? Any CO2? and many simple info. Sure won't burn a hole in your pocket.

i thought students nowadays are pros in researching on the net, compared to old farts like budak???

here's some useful sites for ID plants and their needs: www.thekrib.com, www.dennerle.de, www.tropica.com, www.vectrapoint.com, www.dupla.com.

If all you can do is guess after having free information at your disposal, I wish you all luck in your exams.

i am exceeding my quota this week, cause you all will get a break from me next week.

how did old farts like budak ever get through school without the Internet??? Oh..... we had this thingie called the library!!!! And it's free too!!

Don't be discouraged by the amount of information in the hobby.... for one thing, it's not dry, dreary stuff like what's taught in school, but facts and tips that relate directly to the things you see in your tanks and LFSs. Read through the links, old threads and FAQ and in a couple of months, you should be an old pro like bluezing.
