Is your tank very brightly lit? If the plants came from a tank that isn't brightly lit and you put them to a sudden change in brightness, the plant will turn brown. You need to slowly increase the brightness for these plants.

What floating plants are in question? Are they water lettuce? If your other submerged plants are doing well, it could be the heat from you lights. Or, it could be your fans blowing at them, dehyrating them.

    Mr. TBI,
More info would be a great help to identify the problem.
e.g. Lighting, plant species, fert regime etc.

Remember, if you can't help us, we can't help you.
    Cheers!!

my floating plants are frogbits. yes.
i think could be the fan blowing dryin them out....could be....???
    my lights are 3watts/gal
    co2 1bps
everything is fine in the tank except the frogbits which i dont understand..??
got bright light, kh co2 are all ok. lights are also not too close to the water surface.
think maybe is the fan drying them out.....will try shifting it to one side to see how it goes...
thanks for all the info u guys had given........ will try very hard for my frog in order not to let them turn into a toad!

Quite unlikely for frogbit to dry up, unless we are talking about water lettuces. No harm shifting and see.

nope. i have fans blowing at frogbits but they don't dry up.
when you say turning brownish, does this mean that they have some brownish streaks across the leaves?
or do they have dried up checkerboard markings on the leaves?

I think it is nothing to worry about... it is the plant's reaction to the lights.

    Fans/heat... maybe.
What if they are lack of N or P? Did u measure the levels of NO3 and PO4?
You have other floating/submerged plants showing yellowing/browning?

All floating plants are pond plants and not suitable for indoor aquarium tanks. They comsume high nutrients and require high humidity and also light intensity. Recommended for dragon jar planting and and vegetatives filtration for koi pond.

lack of n. dose some no3 to prevent other leaves from developing the checkerboard pattern. those leaves that already have it, there is nothing you can do.
if your tank runs out of n, then the leaves will start turning yellow.

Please check your NO3 level b4 dosing N. Try to achieve around 10-15 ppm of NO3.
