another transparent fish to join in the fun, this is the glass barb Parachela oxygastroides which you can once find in the streams of Singapore. You can clearly see the stomach/intestines leading out to the anus.

man! how do these fishes live having ppl able to see through them.
nice one there!

there are a number of absolutely transparent fishes, for example the glass catfish and the asiatic glass fish (Chanda sp.), the latter became a "canvas" for stupid people to inject colourful dyes to make "painted glass fish" you see in LFS.

Choong sua currently has this tetra which he calls "glass tetra". Ver gorgeous fish, shaped like emperor tetra and it is as transparent as the glass catfish. price is not too beautiful though, but it is a lovely fish.
Btw, for those who appreciates South American fishes, you can find Poecilocharax weitzmani there now! grab them before i do! also can find the rare Crenuchus spilurus there!

Hi Choy,
I got the P.weitzmanni, but not many survived, left 2, but in good shape. Another 2 months will do the colours more good.
If you remember wanting to take pictures of my Rasbora paviei, it is very ready for you! Now about 2 inches already!
Just email me if you are still interested. As for the sailfin characin, didnt get it, because it is priced out of my budget.
The transparent fish i was refering to can be found in the same tank as some sailfin characin in Pantas. Any luck IDing them?

Are these naturally-occuring fish or are they genetically-engineered varieties?
mike
it involves a very inhumane process of splashing or dipping the fishes in a bleaching solution (think is a trade secret), then quickly flushing them with water. apparently mortality rate is very high, and also some gets thrown away because they're only partially transparent.
