Questions to planted tank using CO2.

I'm using co2 for a 1.3ft cube tank, keeping moss.
Using manual regulator at 1 bubble per sec for 8hrs per day.
I have have an indicator, after a night it showed me yellow which indicates too much co2 so I switch my co2 off and let it rest and see whether the indicator turns green back. But I waited for 2 days still the same color yellow.

    Questions
    1. Will my indicator turn green back?
    2. How to determine the correct co2 amount?
    3. How to dissolve the co2 if its overdosed in the tank?
    4. If I continue to dose co2 even the indicator shows too much, will there be a side effect as I'm keeping shrimps? As I understand the undissolved co2 will cause the water ph to drop too.

Anyone can advise me how to handle the situation? Thanks in advance.

What brand of drop checker do you use? You need to dilute the solution with kH = 4 instead of your tank water, unless you are using dennerle or CAL Aqua Labs

    1. The indicator should turn to blue few our after you take it out from the tank
    2. Aim for green yellowish
    3. You mean you want to remove the disolve CO2? make a surface agitation, air pump, or change water
    4. Try not to overdose, reduce your bps. Overdose kill.

Thanks for the answers to my question, bro Shadow! Appreciated the help so much!

I think the brand is ANS, got it at C328.
You mean I must mix the solution with other source of water instead from my tank?
Can I mix with distilled water?
So using a air pump can help remove undissolved co2?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!

Yes. you can make your own kh = 4 solution using baking soda but you need kH tester.

You can use distilled water because distilled water kH = 0. Same goes if you are using ADA soil, the tank water kH become 0. Thus if you are using the tank water, it will always show yellow even though you did not inject any CO2.

The same goes to any soil brand or filter media that alter the water chemistry, you can't use it because you end up measuring the wrong thing.

    There are few way,
    1. Mix 5l of DI H2O (1.321 gallons) and 4.992 grams of baking soda = 40KH. Take a 10ml sample of the 40KH reference and add it to a 90mls of DI water but you will end up with plenty of solution
    2. Buy ready made one from ebay (not sure if any fish shop selling it)
    3. Get dennerle or CAL Aqua Lab solution

I'm also looking for 4dKh solution.
Can you kindly share where to get dennerle or CAL Aqua Lab solution? GC shop told me they have the CAL. Aqua Lab solution over the phone but said no stock when I reached there half an hour later.

Or can you spare me some of your DIY solution?

    Thanks a million!
