I bought about 20 cardinal a week ago. All seem to do fine except a few. They refuse to eat and their stomach depress inwards. I think these fishes should die eventually if no immediate help is provided to them. Please advise if anything I can do? Thanks.

think u shld isolate them, perharps they r too weak to compete for food, or they r sick.. either way, remove them into another holding tank

I have tried to remove one, but it die instantly after remove from the main tank. I guess these fishes are under stress. This problem only seem to happen to cardinal. It does not happen to my Rummy nose. Hummm...

hmmmm... then prolly due to transport shock/stress... or they were starved b4 the transport and too weak to recover from it

Simon, thanks for your concern and advise. I think they must be starved b4 the transport and too weak to recover. When I put in the food, only those stronger ones will rash for it. Those rash for the food are Rummys and some stronger cardinals. Whereas, those 'starved' cardinals are either slow in reaction or do not bother to eat at all. Most of these fishes have depressed stomach showing sign of starvation. Hummm....I guess I have to get from a better source, any recommedation? Thanks.

when Gan sells you the tetra he will squirt some real Amazon black water (according to him, and it's not even black but brownish ) to destress the fish on your way home

    it's a long way to L C K
it's a long long way to go...

I bought a bottle and find my tetra seem to feed much better (OK they're rushing for the food now). Maybe it's due to the real Amazon black water, who knows? But no harm trying if you're keeping tetra who normally like blackwater anyway.
