Yeah sounds like you have way too much light. Lower the wattage and reduce the period. I'd say add more flow in your water too.
Hi guys,
My tank has been running for nearly a month.
The issue i have now is with my Java Moss which are tied on the brances of DW, they are not growing and some portions are browning up.
Lights are switched on for like 8 to 10 hrs daily.
Have been injecting Seachem excel and Comprehensive every day, doing WC once a week.
Tank Specs:
-1ft cube
-2ft T5HO 2x24 w Aquazonic super sun 12000k tubes
-Water temp = 28 to 30
-Tenellus, Nana
I read that too much lighting will hinder the moss's growth.
Any one can advice?
Thanks

As I have 2 x 1ft cube tanks side by side thus the 2ft light set.. yup i'm thinking of adding duck weeds or some stuffs for shades.
Currently i'm filling the water level to the brim of the outlet slide of my HOF and also the outlet is directed towards to the java moss on the branch so its like direct flow to the java moss, will that be a problem?
Please advise.
Thanks for the info, strung_out!
=D
Moss like water movement. Maybe too much light. Is your other cube almost same setup? then maybe just switch on one tube. I also notice you inject seachem comprehensive everyday. May be too much ferts in the water column. I usually dose seachem flourish once a week Excel can be dosed everyday.
Advice from boss Felix
Yes it is fine, if not even better. Make sure that the moss is not loosely tied though, tightly tied it will adapt better.
Thanks for the info, diazman & strung_out
Diazman --- the other cube, i have downoii and HC thus they need for more light. Actually the other tank I am using a 1ft PL light together with the shared 2ft T5.
Think i will cut down on comprehensive and continue with excel. Thanks Again!
strung_out - So far no loose moss floating around. =D
Thanks again!
Will update soon!
Light powerful? I don't think so. He is basically using 2x24w for TWO 1 feet cube. Thus logically only half of the lightest to each cube.
My guess would be not ideal temperature(this is not very important, you still can grow moss in this temperature range, just not as nice), no co2 injection(same with first reason), no potassium injection and very little water change.

I agree with Zack, probably not so concern for the light. Moss grow in chill water, gentle water movement will be good too, as too stagnant will cause all sorts of algae to deposit and grow.
Light is good enough, T5 are good for growing plants and moss. 8hr per day is more than sufficient.
Hi Bro,
Thanks for the info.
Indeed there are many varying factors contributed to the end results.
