Bought a brand new Drift/Bog wood from LFS. Tied some moss on it without pre-treating it. Did not presoak it of boil it because I cannot find a pail big enough to contain it.

It did not sink but I was able to weight it down with a piece of rock.

The problem now, after 3 days, is that white fungus are developing on it.

Is the Fungus harmful to fauna(all apistos)?
If yes, how to treat it?
What are practical ways to soak or boil large wood?

Thank you for your help and ideas/comments.

    Hi ,
Just a last option in case this thing potential to ruin your setup then you can try using H2O2 (Hydrogene Peroxyde).
Normally sell at 85% concentrate which is extremely high and not necessary. So you can dilute with 30% H2O2 + 70% water then you can brush carefully to the spot or area with algae/fungus etc..
You can repeat the process 2-3 times (if algae normally will bubbling)then wash with clean tap water and let it dry for a while. Then should be ready for tank use or tying moss/riccia.
One thing that you should remember, once you open the H2O2 then make sure no single drip fall to your hand/skins ! Be CAREFULL .

    Cheers,

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply.

I started to worry when no one responded; thought of the worst and must be "Gone Case"!

Will try your method. Fei Miao shared this method with me about treating algae.
