    Hi People,

Just want to check if the Seachem Flourish is good? I use Dr Mallick's LushGro and it works very well. I bought it yesterday to test it out. So just wanted to hear some feedback from the experts here.

    Thanks

I'm using Seachem Flourish and is fairly pleased with it so far. The advantage (though some may consider this disadvantage) is that it doesn't contain much N and K. I can easily adjust the amount of K and N (in the form of NO3) using separate stock solutions of K2SO4 and Ca(NO3)2.4H20.

My only complaint is that the recommended dosage is way off - I'm currently dosing 8x the recommended dosage for my high-light tank and 4x for my low-light one.

    Theodore,
Umm..which is? I am dosing 0.5~1ml for 2ft, and 1.5ml to 2ml for 3ft. Basically due to frequent water change, I am alternating the dosage. Weekend takes more dosage than weekdays. Gave up on calculation.

Hi there, thanks for the update. Yesterday after a 50% water change i added in only a capful of the solution. The instructions mention that for 250L of water, I should add in 5ML(1 Capful) so I did just that. I am currecntly having a 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank with 4 x 36WPL. Is this the right dosage? I should think 4 capfuls should be sufficient? Please advice. Thanks again.

The recommended dosage is on the bottle, which is 1 to 2ml per 200l.

Theo, how many times do you dose a week? Your stated increased dose includes the entire week's dosage or just each dose?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

From the stated ingredients, Flourish's recommended dosage is very much weaker then TMG or LushGro's doses.

The instructions state that per thread is = 1ml and that is for every 10L of water...somthing like that.

I think i better switch back to Dr. Mallick's solution. Have to go to ECO culture to buy then...anywhere else have it?

Bulldog, are you sure? I haven't heard of Seachem changing their formula/dosage instructions anytime recently and the dosage instructions at their website remains the same.

    thy formula is 0.25vn=m
    v=vol of tank
    n=desired nitrogen increase.
    Eg. Raise 20 gallons by 0.2mg/l= 0.25*20*0.20=1ml

    Whao!

KnightStriker, what you just quoted is the dosage formula for Seachem Flourish Nitrogen. That is for dosing N only and nothing else. Seachem is the brand. The Flourish product line consists of:

    Flourish
    Flourish Iron
    Flourish Nitrogen
    Flourish Phosphorus
    Flourish Pottassium
    Flourish Trace
    Flourish Tabs

When we say Flourish, we mean the main one which is some macros and traces. Flourish Tabs are solid ferts for inserting into substrate. The rest are to dose what their names imply.

The dosage I listed above is for the main product, Flourish.

Oops.. U'r right. I am quoting the Nitrogen Flourish formula. Hee Hee..

    Correction:
DIRECTIONS: Use 1-2 mL (dispenser enclosed) for each 200 liters (53 gallons) once or twice a week. Divide the number of gallons to treat by 40 (or liters divided by 150) to obtain the exact dose in mL. Refrigerate after opening. Use only in contained aquaria as directed. This product is not intended for natural bodies of water or agricultural use.

Like what Vinz said, recommended dosage is 1-2mL per 200L => the dosage should be between 0.3 and 0.6mLSo for my 2ft (60L) tank.

At one point, I'm dosing 4mL per week (2mL on Wed and Sat/Sun) for my 2ft tank which is 13.3x of 0.3mL or 6.7x of 0.6mL. Currently cutting back (2mL per week) because I've removed >50% of my plants in preparation for an overhaul.

Ok, Just to clarify again. I quote from the bottle :

"Use 1 capful (5ml) for each 250L (60 Gallon) once or twice a week. For smaller doses, please note that each cap thread is approximately 1 mL. For 2 & 4 L containers, 1 capful is 10ML."

Bulldog, what you are quoted is not typical of Seachem's style of instructions. I've checked all the Flourish products online and none of them have instructions like that nor dose at that ratio.

Are you sure you have Seachem Flourish and not some other product? Check at their website www.seachem.com under "Products".

And yes, most of them come with a little dispenser inside... its just a plastic 1ml pipette.

I can only think of 2 other things that are confusing us... 1) Petmart is parallel importing from somewhere else with different dosage strength (I doubt) or 2) you bought a larger then 250ml bottle and the instructions are wrong.

Hi Vinz, I am not too sure about the 2 things you mention. But 1) No Dispenser and no box 2) Instructions are as per what it is written there. I went to the website and actually notice that what you have mention is true. So how? Do I dose according to the website or as per the bottle. And yes it is Seachem Flourish...Please help...Thanks again.

Hmmm... I'm as lost as you are, but I would go with the dosage on your bottle.

If you have a digital camera, could you put up or email a picture to me? I'm curious about this. [email protected]

Check the inside of the bottle - It's a purple/reddish plastic pipette that you need to pull out using a tweezer if it got detached from the seal (before first use).

Hi Theodore, No need to use a tweezer at all. But have to peel off the paper seal.

Hi Vinz, will try to take a picture of it and let you take a look. Maybe you can identify it. Yeah, i think I should just follow the instructions

Maybe my English failed me. I said "... you need to pull out using a tweezer if it got detached from the seal ...". So I supposed you found the dispenser you were looking for given what you just wrote.
