Green spot algae in planted tanks is normal. In fact I've heard that they show that your tank is in good condition.
Scrape off with an old credit card or filter wool. Your otos won't be able to eat them.

It's from an old thread in AQ, can't find it now. To clarify, some green spot algae is normal and good. Obviously if it's all over the place something is very wrong
EDIT: Take it with a pinch of salt. I can't seem to find any other references in google.![]()

Yes yes, SOME green spot is good. But then I can't find any references.
darter, I previously assumed you just had some green spot algae on the glass. But I'm guessing they're all over the tank plus on the leaves too? You need to up your fertilisation regime.

Not really all over the place. A few here and there. Counted maybe about 20?
I do not dose any fertilizer for my plants as i thought the poo from the fish is enough?
Perhaps I dont agree the tank is stable when it grows green spot. It could be due to your CO2 or PO4 is low. Sometime the water flow could be the factor as well.
Althought the greens spot is not a lot, my advice will be scratch off those green spot. The worst case to react when green spot grow on the slow plant. By that time , you have to trim the leaf and your plant gonna be "botak"![]()

Fish poo alone is definitely not enough because you're injecting CO2. Once you inject CO2 you need to ensure the rest of the nutrients plants require are at sufficient levels otherwise algae will take over.
Two ways you can go:
1) Start looking to buying liquid fertilisers and how to dose them. You can also read up on the Estimative Index by Tom Barr.
2) Or remove the CO2 injection and lower your lights (dependent on how bright they are in the first place)
I heard apple snail eat those aglae. my friend bought like 5-6 apple snail. put it in the tank. after 3-4 days all the algae gone.
still learning the hard way!!

nerite snails eat them.

Any one got these snails can spare mi a few till my spots gone?
