Anyway, regarding photos. My skill is still far from some of the masters here, haha.

For close up, I usually use cheapo Sony A55 with Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 or Sony 70-300G with close-up extension tube. The close up tube reduces the focus distance since I dont have macro lens.

But for the 2 male CPDs shot above, I used Olympus E-P3 & Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95. Its also not a macro lens, but focuses very close.

You just have to be patient & keep shooting, will definitely nail some good ones. What camera are you using?
Trying to use my daughter's EOS 1000 but struggling. Might persuade her to get a macro lens. Previous shots were taken using galaxy sII only..but not bad lah

    Just a quick question,

Does 6500k light tubes looks much yellowish than 10k or 12k light tubes?? I just did 2 tubes changed on my 4xt5ho tubes. When i switched on, i can see vary differences on the brightness of x2 different tubes. Is that normal?

Yeah, a good macro lens will be nice. Actually the Galaxy SII image quality is very good among phones.

Yeah, its yellowish so it will look slightly darker compared to the 12K tubes.

Lol, the puffer takes trolling very seriously though...The clown killifish was dead the next day & the puffer started terrorizing the tank in front of my eyes. The 2 DPs has since been re-homed.

    Re: Farona Garden

    Damn HC is tough...

I have tried a couple times to replant with new batch of submerged HC, the first 3-4 weeks they will look healthy & spread rapidly.

But at the end they always shrink down to very tiny leaves & die?

Here's what I meant. The ones on the left are about 1 wk old, those in red circles were about 1 mth old. They shrunk & died slowly.

But after I've changed the light to 6500K, everything pearls like mad eventho I've lowered CO2 back to only 1bps.

    6500K 36W T5 + 1bps CO2

So yeah, its no secret & has been discussed many times that 6500K light supplies the complete wavelength that plants required to grow. I just couldn't find 6500K T5 tube for my 1.5ft tank until I found the Odyssea 50cm light
    Hi hencpu,

May I know where did you purchase the 36W Odyssea 50cm light? I am having a 1 feet tank and looking for option to upgrade mine as well.

    Thank you in advance.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I got it from East Ocean Aquatic

Although for 1ft tank I think you can opt for PL light since its more widely available.
