    Long term, I think it might be wise to get another bag of kilomberoensis from a different breeder.
    Yes, I am getting eggs of the same population again.

    I doubt it's very much a genetic factor. In an earlier conversation with Tyrone (sometimes, I hope he's active in this forum), he has the same problem with kilomberoensis too, but it's the Ifakara 95-4 population and hence, stopped sending eggs of this species anymore.

    Tyrone's situation might be different from ours. It is a fact that infertility does happen in animals. Since he is living in a climate that is suited for Nothos, and he has problems, what more for us? I think right now, all you can do is to keep the water alkaline above 7.5. Might want to look at TDS too. Best way to get info on the collection site is to ask Kiril for collection data. He might be willing to share location data since the FTZ 10 code does not seem to have geographical locations appended.

    With that data, you can see where the locality is and roughly have an idea of the local conditions in which these fishes live.

    I'm keeping them in alkaline water right now. I'll know the result once I have collected the peat after a week.
