I know most aquarist do not like green water but i have been trying to culture green water without success. Want green water to feed my fries.

Anyone knows how to cultivate it or got a starter culture for me to kickstart the green water?

Hi biljas, Hope you are still following this forum.

Have you succeeded in finding a workable method to cultivate green water? I am also interested in making a tank of green water for some contrasting colour fish.

After I saw a green tank on YouTube with goldfish in it, I am rather interested in the idea, as I realise the fish appear to be very happy in it.

biljas, you can approach the shopkeeper at GC if you need to purchase a starter culture. It's fairly easy to keep going once you get a hang of it.

    Re: Green Water

thanks for the info.....so far platy fries seems to be thriving in my outdoor pond even though water crystal clear. So no need to separately culture green water.

Yes and I'm quite sure he will be pleased you speak kindly of him

Tetrakid, if you're game to maintain greenwater, post your interest here and state date of collection. GC uncle doesn't say much but he's reading...

Seems that Green water is pretty easy to cultivate. Just leave a tub of water out in the sun with fishes and no filtration and voila, within days you would get green water. If you need a starter culter pm me and i can give you a water bottle full. But only collect at Aljunied or Raffles place MRT yah.

    Re: Green Water

As what bro biljas said, very easy. Lots of sunlight, high bio load n no filteration.

I m currently using uv to get rid of green water as my tank is in my balcony.

    Re: Green Water

If you want to culture green water, just place your tank under direct sunlight and within 3 to 5 days, you'll see your water turning green. Your tank need to have fishes too!!
