Saw several unique whiptail catfishes at C328. Thought of housing them in my new planted / shrimp tank. Any advise? Not too sure how much though...any idea?

Only whiptail I'd suggest you keep with shrimps is Farlowella acus. Other whiptails can be more carnivorous in feeding habits, plus some get pretty huge for an average planted tank. Use Google or sites like www.planetcatfish.com to get a rough idea of which species is feasible in a planted setup with shrimps.

They usually are, but as with all fish from C328, if they are not in the plastic bags when you buy them, it's a risk you have to take in terms of disease etc. I would advise you to quarantine any fish, if you caught them directly from any tank there. This applies to fish from any LFS. Cross contamination when people use the same nets they use to catch their feeder fish etc is probably the biggest problem.

Noted bro. I also notice that some of the fishes there are really under nourished. The bellies are sunken....like the galaxy rasbora that I got. But thankfully, they aclimatised very fast in my tank and now feeding well.

They don't get fed much in the shop and the fish at the Betta rack are only fed with live adult brine shrimp or FBW, which is really too big for small mouth fish like CPD. The ones in the bag look even more healthier than the ones in the puny tanks.

Re: whiptail catfish in a planetd / shrimp tank?

I keep 7 Farlowella in a tank of breeding L270 > Chocolate zebras. They do not bother anyone and spawn in there too' I remove their eggs to an incubator as the L046 Zebras are somewhat carnivores. They just spawned this morning in fact, 48 eggs this time. I need help with a positive ID on the Farlowellas. I am thinking Accus but planet catfish says they are very endangered and they have no breeding reports. ?? I will be posting picks of the family soon as I figure out how. {:
I once thought I was brave. Now I can't stop crying.
