Also helped my friend set up a fluval edge tank!

Same problem regarding accessories and the lighting is really quite poor.... As they are halogen bulbs beware of the the temperature increase when you switch them on... Shrimps are very sensitive as I have learnt from the forum

Wondering where you bought ur plants from? Are those fissedens?

    Cheers and goodluck

Even "easy" shrimps like cherries and sakuras will need cooler water to thrive in. The problem with the Fluval Edge is that it is only ventilated by the small opening and the lighting will warm the water as mentioned by others. For now, with plants like mosses, the lighting should be sufficient, but you might want to find a way to keep this tank cool.

Using matured water and some filter media from an established tank is a short cut but does not cut down the time on completing the cycling process. It is advisable to have test kits on hand, especially with shrimps. They are very sensitive to ammonia, and if your filter is not fully mature, the shrimps in your tank may die, be it from high temperature or insufficient bio filtration.

High temperature above 27 degrees will also affect your fissiden mosses and perhap even the marimo ball.
They'll not look as green and will not grow much.

I think in the case of the marimo ball, they must have some circulation, so that they can roll about gently, or else the bottom section that gets no light will probably die.
