Your tank watts is about 2.4 watts per galleon.
Bring your Phosphate up to about 0.5ppm and your KH to 4. Inject CO2 to mantain water at PH=6.8. Hmm.. did you dose your PMDD separately or just dose as a mixed solution?
Hi
My tank is infested with many brown and green hair algae, i suspect my incorrect dosage of pmdd. I ignore the instructions on the bottle and use chuck calculator to calculate the dosage. Chuck recommended dosage is larger than the recommended dosage on the bottle. or is it my tank parameters that is causing the algae.

Hi!
thanks for replying. how to bring up phosphate?
I dose the pmdd together in a cup of water. is there a problem if I dose together?

Hi
Actually, you cannot just take the desired ppm from Chuck's calculator.
You also need to look at a lot factors. This include your light, the types of plants you have, the amount of plants you have, your CO2 level............
So it is quite difficult to get the right ppm for each tank. The only way is trail and error. (i think)
Thks.
Wait, hold on a minute.
Are you adding MgSO4 or MSO4? (what is MSO4?)
If you are adding MgSO4, i think it is not necessary because sufficient amount is found in the tap water.
Adding more Mg means that you need to increase Ca as well.

Bring Phosphate up by using KH2P04. You can get a pack from Dr Mallack. A pack will last you long time. By the way, do not dose using a mixture of PMDD. Every tank is different. Some needs more NO3 some needs more PO4 some don't even need anything except trace. So dose all elements separately. If you are unsure, keep a test kit close by to monitor your tank. Hope this helps.

reddie: How much K2SO4 and MgSO4 were you adding weekly? Did you change these amounts suddenly?
I also experienced this type of brush algae on my plants and driftwood. I think very hard to wait for them to go away. Remove them manually. Scrub your affected driftwood and cut away the infected leaves of plants. Then ensure fertilisation routine is correct and the algae should not return.
NO3 - can bring up to 10ppm, more feeding can help too.
PO4 - can bring up to 0.5 to 1.0ppm. Maybe try 0.5ppm first.
Measure these again during midweek. If drop further then dose more.
K - I now keep to 10ppm per week with K2SO4. Extra K can come from KNO3 if you are dosing that. So adjust accordingly. See this post by Tom Barr http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...ic.php?t=15375
